Alexandria Academy Institute is looking for motivated and driven individuals to join a fast-growing research/educator team. Our curriculum and instruction are the heart of Alexandria Academy Institute’s The Alexandria Project STEM print and eLearning programs for K-12 schools, school districts, and education organizations nationally and globally. Alexandria Academy Institute is looking for current or former educators, or those with curriculum design experience to lay the foundations for our expanding content library.

We recognize that academic failure is not the fault of inherent deficits of character or intellect but of economic disparity; institutional marginalization; unequal distribution of educational resources; ineffectual pedagogical practices, expectations, and the mindset therein engendered. The Alexandria Academy Institute develops innovative K-8 STEM curricula to effectively leapfrog African American and other at-risk beyond ineffectual traditional teaching methods and basic level instruction that puts them at a disadvantage in the 21st century global economy.

Each Curriculum Designer will be tasked with creating a curriculum map and corresponding daily formative assessments and lesson plans for the subject and grade(s) that best matches their skillset and experience.

  • Timely submission of curriculum resources
  • Mastery of Subject Curriculum at Preferred Grade Level (K-8) MATH
  • Familiarity with Common Core Standards
  • Willingness to learn Alexandria Academy Institute’s design and development methodologies and develop content that syncs with our instructional methodology
  • Familiarity with Culturally Responsive Curriculum Development
  • Ability to write creative and comprehensive lesson plans that engage students and leads to mastery on daily learning objectives
  • Receptivity to feedback
  • Ongoing Communication and Collaboration with Research and Development Director and Instructional Specialist
  • Ideal candidates are former or current educators familiar with cognitive science research or those with experience designing innovative curriculum.

Desired: Current or Former Educators, Curriculum Specialists, Cognitive Scientists, Learning Specialists

Experience with Virtual/Online Learning and Curriculum Development not required but preferred.

  • Master’s degree and at least 2+ years of experience in teaching mathematics.
  • Strong working knowledge of the Common Core State Standards for Mathematics, Grades K-8 (or comparable state standards), including both the content standards and the practice standards.
  • Passion for improving the educational experiences and outcomes for low-income students and students of color
  • Self-starter mentality and the ability to work independently
  • A demonstrated commitment to excellence
  • Healthy respect for colleagues and ability to work collaboratively with others within the Research & Development team and other staff across the organization
  • A deep appreciation for diversity and differences in the workplace, public school system, and diverse communities we serve
