Andrew Sorbo

Master Educator and Historian

Andrew Sorbo is a passionate advocate for social justice and a Master Educator. Andrew attended Providence College in Providence Rhode Island where he earned a B.A. in History graduating Summa Cum Laude. He earned his Masters in history at Northeastern University. He began his teaching career in 1971 teaching at the Diocese of Providence, Rhode Island. He was named Teacher of the Year in 1997 He taught in public schools until becoming a Principal in 1982. Since retiring, he has continued to teach, facilitate classes and workshops:

  • Workshops on Diversity (Racial & Sexual Identity) 2008-2010
  • Foreign Film Festival 2017-2020
  • Florida Humanities Council Bookread on Claudia Rankine’s “Citizen” 2017
  • Adult Religious Education: ‘Facing Death with Life’ 2018
  • Social Justice: ‘The 1619 Project,’ ‘Africa’s Great Civilizations’ – both 2019-2020
